When you see someone serious say "vibe coding"

The dreaded words of 2025 - vibe coding.

Hear me out - I have a theory.

I think one thing that most confuses people (and the conversation) is when someone that is deemed “a serious person” or just held in high regard is talking about vibe coding. People often interpret this generically as hyping up. It gives credence to the concept, and the usual suspect hype peddlers will repost it to no end.

At the moment of writing this, things are for sure - frothy, and very much so. The hype and anti-hype AI crowds are firing shots.

And vibe coding? It looks to have already transcended into the realm of meaning everything and nothing.

If anyone is doing actual work going into production - it’s software engineering. AI might generate the code, but the prompt-prayer-production method isn’t going mainstream yet. Maybe someday, but not today.

As such I think vibe coding discussions are already mostly rage bait attention farming.

You know it; I know it - everybody knows it.

Yet, it remains a very effective farming strategy.
